Intro

The human body is a highly complex electrical system. As is the planet. As with any electrical circuit, having a solid ground connection is crucial in the flow of electric current.

The problem

In our society of technological marvels, there are many factors causing us to become ungrounded. Cell phones, erratic thoughts, emotional issues, and busy schedules are just a few things that might contribute to the issue. However the most important part is our connection to nature. Many living in cities and urban areas are becoming disconnected from nature. When we are in nature we are naturally connected to the earth and our energy flows freely.

What is grounding exactly?

In an electrical circuit the ground is the connection to the earth. Having a to ground helps to maintain the maximum potential of the electrical system, and also to prevent any malfunction or electric shock . Without the ground connection, current is not at its maximum potential or possibly does not flow at all.

Think of a lightning rod. If a bolt of lightning strikes a properly grounded lightning rod, the current goes into the earth and all is well. If it is ungrounded however, the results are much more destructive.

Life’s challenges are the proverbial bolt of lighting and you are the rod. Having a healthy connection to earth enables you to survive these situations relatively unscathed.

How to do it

Grounding can be accomplished very easily with a simple exercise.

Start by taking a few deep breaths.

Imagine a cord going from the base of your spine to the ground. Allow that cord to drop down all the way to the core of the earth. Switch it on and notice what you feel.

Physical connection to the earth can also be beneficial. Whether that is walking barefoot on the beach or the grass, connecting with a tree, or camping out under stars.

Bigger picture

With advancing technology, more and more electromagnetic fields are present in everyday life. Also, most people aren’t spending as much time in nature or even outside at all! By taking a few moments each day to ensure a healthy connection to the earth, we receive abundant benefits throughout the day. By remaining grounded we are fostering our own inner space and stepping into our power.
