Being More Present – Practicing The 7 Directions

What are the 7 Directions?

The 7 directions are like a compass for your spirit. When you are aware of all the directions and know where you are you are capable of being much more present and in your body.

The directions are:

  • North
  • South
  • East
  • West
  • Above
  • Below
  • Center (Heart)

Practice

Start facing the East. Become aware of everything to your left. This is the North. Notice and feel anything you need to feel in this direction. Now shift your attention to your right. This is the south Become aware of and feel anything that needs to be felt here for a moment. When you are ready shift your attention in front of you. This is the East. Become aware of and feel anything you need to feel here. When you are ready shift your attention behind you. This is the West. Once again feel and notice. You may also notice with each direction feeling more present. Next shift your attention below you. Feel and notice. When ready, shift your attention above you. Once more just feel and notice. When you are ready shift your attention to your heart and hold this attention. Place your hands on your heart and get to know this feeling of being centered.
